ELLIS RED – Chris Morley

What was the biggest fun during the making of the last album?

Hearing it all come together from the pre-production demos that had been kicking around for a few years. The EP was a long time in the making so it was really satisfying hearing real musicians coming together rather than programmed drums (which we used for the demos) and guitar amp plugins etc!

If we want to know you, which song do we have to listen to? And why?

Bones and Beauty. It pretty much sums up our tastes and styles I think. Heavy(ish) in places, poppy in others and I think it’s one of the tracks on the EP where the passion really shines through.

The music industry has changed a lot (or so they say). What did it bring you? And what not?

It’s made gigging almost impossible and sharing your music incredibly easy. Pros and cons.

Who is the best musician in the world nobody has heard of yet? And why will this change very soon?

What apart from Ellis Red you mean? 😉 UK-based artist called Sam Ryder. That man is going places and has just released his debut EP. It’s on iTunes – go get it now. You could pick one up while you’re downloading Ellis Red V:IV…

She tells you she will decide on a 5-song-mixt tape if there is going to be a second date. Which 5 would you put on?

In this order:
All night long – Lionel Ritchie
Let’s get it on – Marvin Gaye
You shook me all night long – ACDC
Sorry – Justin Beiber
Sound of Silence – Simon & Garfunkel

What’s up for the next couple of months?

The first full length Ellis Red album is in pre-production as we speak. Stay tuned – it’s going to be a game changer.
