HELL IN THE CLUB – Dave

Hell_In_The_Club-710x450.png

What was the biggest fun during the making of the last album?

Apart from the great time spent in the studio with our producer Simone Mularoni, the biggest fun is always hearing the songs come to life. To see how good sounds and arrangements make the songs start to sound great after months of listening to ugly demos!

If we want to know you, which song do we have to listen to? And why?

I would say “Devil on my Shoulder”. It may lack our heavy and punky vein but I think that it is still very representative of Hell in the Club, musically and lyrically. It’s a very melodic and straight hard rock song.

The music industry has changed a lot (or so they say). What did it bring you? And what not?

Yeah we have seen the music industry change. We started to play and make albums with our other bands at the end of the 90’s so we really saw the scene change year after year. The fan letters started to become e-mails and the cd’s started to become illegal mp3’s. Now things are changing again since – finally – the digital side of the business is starting to be smartly legalized so it seems there might be some hope also for the underground in the end. Apart from the same things we can say about this matter, there are two sides of this coin as usual. We sell less cd’s but we have a totally different way to promote the band thanks to internet, mostly for free. So yeah… times change, but the ways to promote and push your band are still out there.

Who is the best musician in the world nobody has heard of yet? And why will this change very soon?

Uh this is a hard question ahah! Probably I’m in the part of the world where still nobody knows about this great musician! 🙂 I mean there are a lot of great bands with great musicians around. But these days – getting back to your previous question – it’s pretty easy to show yourself… so if this great musician does exist, he’s already out there making some YouTube videos or already on a stage!

She tells you she will decide on a 5-song-mixt tape if there is going to be a second date. Which 5 would you put on?

Ah! That’s tough! I will be honest. Music is very important for me, so a 5-song-mix tape would be a very delicate way to talk about myself. And to tell you the truth 5 songs are really not enough to talk about about myself eheh! Anyway I would go with 5 songs I used to love when I was a kid. Some classics…just to say… “hey, this is where I come from. Wanna see where I went from there? Gotta see me again for the next mix tape/date!” 🙂

So here is the tracklist Guns n’ Roses – Welcome to the Jungle,  Motley Crue – Dr. Feelgood Aerosmith – Magic Touch,  Alice Cooper – Poison & Bon Jovi – You Give Love a Bad Name

What’s up for the next couple of months?

We will make some gigs supporting the last album and then I think that in the meantime we will start looking at some new material. Just to check if the time is right to write new songs. But we don’t wanna stop yet, so we will keep on going at full speed!

HARTMANN – Oliver Hartmann

What was the biggest fun during the making of the last album?

It’s always fun to work on an album and of course a lot of funny things happen here and there during a production. But I can’t tell something very special right now. Sorry 😉

If we want to know you, which song do we have to listen to? And why?

That’s difficult. I would say: Listen to these four songs and you get an imagination of what HARTMANN is: Out in the cold, I will carry on, All my life, After the love is gone

This is maybe a good selection to show the variety of this band. modern rock/hard rock with many influences.

The music industry has changed a lot (or so they say). What did it bring you? And what not?

There were times when I thought that the whole development isn’t good at all for the music industry and most musicians. Nowadays I think it’s good AND bad at the same time. On one hand it’s a shame that kids and also many grown up people get the impression by youtube, Spotify and many other platforms that music is for free. Due to free downloads and flatrates most musicians don’t get enough money anymore for their sales although the market is huge and still growing. The whole value of music loses. Especially small bands are suffering from that.

On the other hand new structures have possibilities. Nowadays it’s no problem at all to be NOT bound completely to the music industry and their interests. And I won’t call these interests „music“ or „art“, haha 🙂 So you can found your own record label, find a good working distribution, do your own promotion where and how you want, get direct accountings for sales and many other things. And most of all do the music YOU want to do. Although a bit of experience is needed and of course there’s lots more work to do besides just making music but in the end the chance is much bigger that the main part of the money that is earned arrives on YOUR account and does not feed an already fed up system.

Who is the best musician in the world nobody has heard of yet? And why will this change very soon?

Uh, that’s hard to say. I heard many artists and bands during the last years where I wished they made a step forward to get well known. Sometimes I was right. For example Mumford & Sons. I was a fan of this band way before they got well known. They’re great musicians and deserve to be heard. Of course many others too.

She tells you she will decide on a 5-song-mixt tape if there is going to be a second date. Which 5 would you put on?

That’s a hard question. Maybe impossible to answer. I think this depends a lot on the woman, haha 😉

What’s up for the next couple of months?

Right now I’m still on tour with Avantasia until the end of this summer. During a break in May I will finish the next Hartmann record which will be probably released in the end of September. The songs are already written and arranged but the production is not finished yet. Due to many other projects as Rock Meets Classic or the live acoustic DVD „Barefoot To The Moon“ of my Pink Floyd Tribute „Echoes“ there wasn’t much time left to really concentrate on a new album. And I didn’t have time to plan more live shows or a full tour. But this will change pretty soon. I promise 😉

Looking forward to see you play at the HEAT Festival

Thanks a lot, I’m looking forward to that, too!

Watch/listen to this great song

CAPTAIN BLACK BEARD – Robert Majd

What was the biggest fun during the making of the last album?

Going to Gothenburg to record with Chips and Henryk. Sweating it out during takes. Cooking tasty dinners and drinking lots of beer with only music in our heads. It was all great!

If we want to know you, which song do we have to listen to? And why?

“Divided Feelings”, because it’s our first single from the new album “It’s A Mouthful”. The song is very melodic, very powerful with great guitar solos, lead and backing vocals. The energy is just right!

The music industry has changed a lot (or so they say). What did it bring you? And what not?

Well it didn’t bring us record sales, that’s for sure. However, with youtube and Spotify it’s easier to bring our songs and music videos to our fans. We don’t have to have MTV play our video… although that would’ve been cool 🙂

Who is the best musician in the world nobody has heard of yet? And why will this change very soon?

Oh my… that’s a tough one. Well, I can say anyone in my band I guess. Chris is a hell of a guitar player, singer and songwriter. Zack has a great voice and lovely tone in his guitar playing. Our new drummer Vinnie is not kidding around either… He means business. You put all that together with my enthusiasm and that’s why it’s gonna change.

She tells you she will decide on a 5-song-mixt tape if there is going to be a second date. Which 5 would you put on?

The Hellacopters – Gotta Get Some Action
W.A.S.P. – Animal (F**k Like A Beast)
Howlin’ Wolf – Back Door Man
KISS – Love’Em Leave’Em
Black’N Blue – Nasty Nasty.

What’s up for the next couple of months?

We’re gonna put together a new music video soon. Then we’ll get out there and play! After the summer we might start working on the next album. Something’s always happening so keep looking back at www.captainblackbeard.net and www.facebook.com/CaptainBlackBeardBand

THE TOI – Paul Healy

What was the biggest fun during the making of Water into Wine?

It was hard work but we had one day off and it was messy. We found a pub with a jukebox, pool table and the resident recreational drug user. The Griffin … if those walls could talk! All in it was just a great experience and it was funny to have a multi platinum awarded rock star (Dan Hawkins of the Darkness) cutting about in our drummers work van (he works in construction).

If we want to know you, which song do we have to listen to? And why?

Down By The River … Get On It … they have all our trademarks – HUGE choruses, HUGE harmonies, HUGE guitars … and they tell stories. We’re all about songwriting and reaching out to people through our lyrics.

The music industry has changed a lot (or so they say). What did it bring you? And what not?

It brought us a lot of con artists promising us the world but we rode that time out and went our own way. We gained some amazing friends – our producer Nick is like a fifth Beatle to us now. A great pal. Andy also got the chance to tour with GUN. It’s now a waiting game to see if anything filters through for us, fingers crossed.

Who is the best musician in the world nobody has heard of yet? And why will this change very soon?

Me.

I dunno if it will change. Oh and my sister Martha L Healy is a great folk/country/Americana artist. She just needs a rub of the green. She has enormous talent!

She tells you she will decide on a 5-song-mixtape if there is going to be a second date. Which 5 would you put on?

Well I’m already married so the mix-tape worked haha!

What did I put on for her….it’s so long ago…..

Richie Sambora – All that really matters

Michael Jackson – Get on the floor

The Eagles – Love will keep us alive

Cher – You Wouldn’t Know Love

Whitesnake – Give Me All Your Love Tonight

What’s up for the next couple of months?

Writing, rehearsing, demoing with a view to recording a new EP. We’re onto the next level of songwriting … we learnt a lot last time round and are ready to up the stakes!
